I finally finished it!  As regular stream attendees know, I’ve been working on this piece of wonderful absurdity for some time now.  It’s all @ncmares’s fault – after I saw him working on a giant ship pone or two, I had to give it a go myself.  (I’m not into Kantai Collection or KanColle, btw.)  There’s a giant Celly that goes with this nicely.

There’s plenty of flaws in this, of course – but overall what I like outweighs what I don’t.  These are actually the first two battleships I’ve ever painted – despite my love of ships, I’ve barely even drawn any 20th century craft before.  The ships are the Texas and the Royal Sovereign.  Luna’s kit is based off the famous Dreadnought of 1905.  I let the picarto chat choose which battleships I’d paint, and a shout-out again to them choosing a pair of ships that could actually served alongside the Dreadnought.  Given having never painted either before, I’m quite pleased with how they turned out.

The title is playing off of Dreadnought’s ship’s motto, by the way: Fear God and dread naught.

Working resolution: 16"x9" @ 600dpi.  Single layer, single brush (stock oil flat.)  30-40 hours.

You guys have got to check out @amarynceus‘ Dreadnought Luna! Seriously, the amount of detail he packed in there is nuts. Outstanding work. ^^ We had to post the sister ships together, of course.

Celestia has arrived to save the day. She’s not modeled on any ship in particular, but I was rolling with ‘heavy cruiser’ in mind.
Man, this one was tough and took a long while. Celestia is difficult enough to draw on her own, let alone all perspective-y.

I received really great advice along the way, however, so thank you guys for all the help. For all the absurdity these are so very fun to draw. I got to telling people that this is what happens when you tell me to draw whatever I want, haha. Yo, it’s creative, and I am a sucker for creativity. 

I am this close to going all-out with the worldbuilding and lore for these ship-pons, but Night Mares has got to be concluded before I take on something new. All in due time, right? :)

Never really understood Kancolle, but I’m loving these giant ship ponts. Fuckin’ epic, NC.

@pabbley drew something non-lewd for once, so I threw some colors at it. (I hate doing shading, but who could resist that face?) Glimmy is best bitch 5eva.

The past couple weeks have been pretty rough with lots of school and practicing things with art. I had struggled for a little bit, not being able to finish something I even mildly liked, but once I did this sketch, I knew from the moment I looked at it, that this is gonna be something. I hope you guys enjoy the embodiment of two weeks of hard work, because I sure do.
