If you have any love for Starlight at all, you will watch this.
Hey y'all! It's art and stuff.
If you have any love for Starlight at all, you will watch this.
I’ve received a lot of letters from artists asking to check out their artwork and their blog, and I’ve noticed that a lot of them openly write unhealthy amounts of negative comments about their artwork, it was super depressing, honestly. :(
Confidence plays a very very important role as an artist, it’s what helps us learn and grow without the constant feeling of doubt and jealousy! You are a unique individual who must go down your own unique path, and as scary as it sounds, you can’t rely on others to hold your hand all the way through. You are the only one who can get yourself to where you need to go, and beating up your artwork is not the way! Trust yourself and your abilities to make a change, and you can do anything!!
Love your art, love yourself!
One of the hardest parts of being an artist (at least for me) is getting over my perfectionism and self criticism. I wish it was easier for me to accept praise or compliments for my artwork, but a part of me will always fight back and tell me how untrue it is and how undeserving I am, or even find such compliments patronizing. Imposter syndrome is real, and a real bastard to fight.
It’s just so much easier to say you suck at something than it is to admit you’re actually good. One can be written off as humble self-deprecation. The other can feel like cockiness or arrogance instead of healthy pride in your work. I know I struggle with this personally on a daily basis.
Long story short, be kind to yourself. You may not be the best, but you’re trying your best, and that’s what matters.
Gotta get them snax
It’s my boy! Thanks, Numbers!
