Various hairless monkey practice sketches. And then a Twist.

I have no idea what A.N.G.E.L. stands for, besides the L being “lagomorph.” I’m sure y’all will come up with something.
This week’s prompts have something to do with mechs in space or whatever. I’ll be honest with you, I know nearly nothing about space mechas. Gundam, right? I liked TTGL, but that’s about where my interest ends. Anyway, Fluttershy is a pilot now because I thought it would be funny to see her going psycho, mercilessly mowing down enemy robots in space.

Happy birthday, Silver Quill!
Doubt he’ll see this, but I wanted to show my appreciation somehow for my favorite fandom reviewer, analyst, and most notable hippogriff. There aren’t many that can produce consistently entertaining content with such a unique blend of humor, insight, cartoonish violence, and, dare I say, wisdom. Not only is he a talented vector artist and voice actor, but he’s putting in work all over the place. How many collabs has this guy participated in? How many conventions has he attended? I don’t know how he does it. Needless to say, his efforts have impressed the hell out of me.
Thanks for all your hard work, SQ! Have a good‘un.

One of my fondest memories this year was attending Woodlore’s live performance debut at Everfree Northwest. I got to meet him after the set, and he’s a genuinely cool guy on top of being a real talent. Just so much soul in his voice. It’s no wonder he’s a favorite on the Berrytube playlist. It was awesome getting to meet you, dude. Here’s to next year!

She’s back!
It’s been way too long since I’ve updated Gia. Combine writer’s block, artist’s block, a smidge of depression, a pinch (well, more like a few cups) of losing my job, and my cat passing, and it’s pretty easy to get sidetracked. On the bright side, taking so much time off from her has given me ample time to improve in general. I’m not disgusted with my previous work, but I can definitely look back and see areas where I know I can do much better now.
I’d like to get back to regular updates (at least weekly) by the start of the year. But in the meantime, I’d like to ask y’all for a favor.
See, for the life of me, I cannot come up with a color scheme for Gia that I am happy with. I’d been wanting to do more color art of her, but it’s kind of hard when you can only picture her in black and white. So I figure why not ask my followers? Surely someone out there is handy with a pastel palette.
I’ll take as many suggestions as y’all have to give. If there’s no clear favorite, I’ll take the ones I like the most and put them to a poll a little later. If possible, I’d like to reach a decision by the end of the week. Let’s say…Sunday night?
So how about it? Give me some colors for her feathers, her fur, and her eyes. Even better if you color the sketch and submit it, but not necessary. It’s better than just saying “red and black.”
She will not be red and black. There’s always that one person…
The Ask and Submission boxes are always open here and at @gia-does-things, have at it!

I was watching the latest AMWDW, and got inspired to sketch the good doctor himself.
It’s hard to put into words how much of an impact Dr. Wolf has had on this fandom. How? He listens. Take a moment to think about how meaningful that is. How many times have you needed someone to just listen to your problem? Not try to solve it, not analyze you…just let you speak, and gently guide you to the answer to your dilemma on your own? The man (wolf?) has the patience of a saint, our fandom’s own Fred Rogers in a way, though I’m sure he’d be much to modest to ever accept that level of compliment.
“A Moment with Dr. Wolf” is one of the best parts of the brony fandom. I can almost guarantee you there’s a subject he’s touched on that you’ve dealt with, or are currently going through. Just a reminder that you’re never truly alone, no matter how tough your situation is.
Thanks, Doc. It’s good to be helping.
