I like pandas.

We survived! The Discount Pony Emporium has been up and running for two years now, with 600 posts (601, including this one). Admittedly, a good chunk of them are reblogs of amazing art by much more impressive artists than myself, but there’s still a ton of love and effort I’ve put into sharing things with y’all.

First off, apologies for the lack of my own content as of late. I honestly have no excuse. With few exceptions, I just haven’t had much–if any–motivation to put stylus to tablet over the past few weeks. Not much motivation to do anything, really. And when I have drawn, I just haven’t felt like posting it. Can’t even blame Harvey for it all, I’ve had plenty of opportunity. There has been a bit of anxiety, but that’s something I’m usually able to at least work through if I push myself.

Problem with that is, I’m terrible at positive self-motivation. The most effective method I have is berating myself with insults tempered with disgust (”Get out of bed, fatty!” “Draw that fucking horse, you lazy piece of shit!”) until I feel guilty or angry enough to get up and do the damn thing. This is EXTRAORDINARILY unhealthy, and usually results in hating myself after the fact to the point where I totally shut down for a month or so. No one is harder on me than me, I need to learn a better way.

Introspection aside, I need some twofold advice. The blog has recently surpassed 400 followers, and I want to do something to celebrate, and to thank all of you for showing so much love and support. The hip thing to do is a giveaway or something, right? Maybe a livestream? Or maybe something I’ve never tried before? I have no idea! So let’s hear your ideas. I want to give something back to all of y’all, and since drawing funny looking horses seems to be something I’m decent at, I need to be in a mindset to draw them. So if you have any personal advice on how to get back into a healthy mindset, I’ll take those too.
