Occasionally, I’ll get a request or general question about drawing humans. Long story short, I’d like to, but I’m horrible at them. That doesn’t mean I have no interest, however. I simply don’t practice them nearly enough. Not that it’s much of an excuse, but there are so many ponies I’d rather be drawing!

The first set of sketches is from last month, when I finally decided to stop being a chickenshit and just try to draw faces. I failed miserably of course, though I suppose it could have gone worse.

The second set was from today, which ended up with me just screwing around with eye shapes because I’m never happy with how they sit on a human face. I also suck at noses, ears, cheeks…okay, yeah, guess I’ll practice more.

Wow, have I really only posted one of these? I’ve been participating in @my-little-art-challenge (off and on) since July. In all that time, I’ve somehow only reposted the spooky one. Well, here’s all 6 so far.

Pokemon Trainers - Twilight’s gonna catch ‘em all, whether they like it or not.

Hungover Ponies - Dash finally made to the front of the line for Cider Season, and paid the price.

Well, the month’s just started, and while I managed to get most of my bills paid, I’m completely broke now. Until I hear some good news from a potential employer, I’m in a pretty bad spot for the rest of the month. No groceries, no gas, no Netflix. Plus, I’ve had a cough since before my birthday that I still haven’t managed to shake off, and the doctor ain’t free.
So to raise funds, I’m thinking about doing some colored sketch commissions. One character, $10. Nothing too complicated or super detailed, because I want to be able to do them quickly. (I hate keeping y’all waiting.) I might even do a stream, if there’s enough demand for it. Anyone interested? Message me if you are, I’m down to peanut butter and my last packet of ramen at this point.

My BEST posts of 2016

Been an interesting year, to say the least. I think I’ll try to make an art summary post later today, or maybe tomorrow. Notes don’t mean everything, and there were a lot of pieces that fell through the cracks and didn’t get much love that I’m very proud of.

In case I don’t get a chance to post again tonight, I just wanted to thank everyone. Things were exceptionally hard for me this year; I honestly still haven’t fully recovered, but having y’all’s support has helped tremendously. Your words of encouragement and constructive criticism were, and will always be, welcome. Here’s to better things (and even better art) in the year to come and beyond.
