That’s right, while everyone else is doing Inktober or Spooptober or what have you, I’m drawing Applejack. October is National Apple Month (in the US, anyway), so I’ve decided to dedicate it to the Best Pony.
Before I go any further, let me preface this by saying I can almost guarantee I won’t be drawing an Applejack every single day. I’ll try, but I know how quickly I can burn out, and the last thing I want is to get tired of drawing my favorite horse.
That being said, Happy Jacktober, y’all!

In other news, I’ve hit another milestone!

Thank y’all so much! This legitimately brought a tear to my eye. I honestly thought I’d peaked back around 700 a long time ago. At one point I was actually losing followers, most likely due to lack of updates, among other things. It’s awesome to know there are still people out there that are just now discovering me and liking what they’re seeing.
I was feeling a bit more confident, so I decided to open up a ko-fi! If anyone enjoys what I do and wants to help out now and then, well, now you can. Anything helps!
Now, what to do if I ever hit 1000…
Wanted to do a little experiment. The left is Pinkie using circles and guidelines, the right is attempting to draw her freehand. As you can see, the left is much more precise and proportional. That’s not to say that every artist needs to use circles, but until I form a consistent template, I sure as hell do.
There’s no shame in it, but the more often you draw and practice, the more comfortable and less reliant you become on certain tools. All in good time, no rush.
For funsies:

ATG Day 29: Redraw an earlier piece from the ATG or if you’re a veteran artist redraw one of your early pieces / Draw as many of our prompts as possible in one drawing.
Poked around through some of my old posts and ran across this Sunny Shimsham from 2015. The difference a few years of practice make!
ATG Day 28: Draw a pony reaching the end of their journey / Draw a pony meeting their end.
Totally original interpretation, I know.
Day 29′s prompt is to redraw an older piece. Feel free to look through my old stuff, let me know if there’s something you’d like to see me redraw. Leave your suggestions as a link in an Ask. If something gets enough attention or tickles my fancy, I’ll consider it.
